But whereas the philosophic nature of mysticism includes it to consider it as a defect of critical cerebration, the same modality of conception, observed from the standpoint of aesthetical connectivity has just another character. Mysticism absorbed in literature is poetic literature especially. This depends on the nature of poetry. Poetry is essentially mystical. Its essence is an abnormality by deficiency of critical and excess of emotional activity, contrived, instinctively by its own laws, and by no other laws. Mysticism, in its turn, involves poetry, and is a species of poetry – itself, though really the essence of it.

A poesia é essencialmente mística.
