We are in fate and Fate's and do but lack

Outness from soul to feel[1] ourselves its dwelling,

And can[2] but compel Fate aside or back

By Fate's own immanence in the[3] compelling.

We are too far exiled the sense of things[4] 

To know how much we are not what we are,

And in us think the echo of the strings

Of our heart into otherness pulsated far.

A doubleness of mind fails us, to glance

At our vision of ourselves amid things

Not by reflection, nor {…} by mind askance

But double-hinged in the {…}

But so as to act will {…}

But by material owing of soul’s wings

To think we will not, yet is this that workeds
