I asked the conscience of the sun and moon
To my verse, to be flagrant in[1] my creed;
I brought the darkness and the light to won
Themselves the symbols[2] into truth agreed;

Clouds and the night-seas where we prayer gup
I called to me with poet’s |fore-willed|[3] will,
And I worn[4] Nature’s to a song of hope,
Upon the terribly end of my |pure| quill.

Into the image of sense I formed my thought
And into words, like sense |grows| wine,
It sparkled from the sense to words is nought
The † of feelings to[5] which our thought’s prime.
How great a prayer!
Live my verse to be!
